Set around a small waterhole near the Mara River, Little Governors‘ Camp has a perfect view of the constant flow of mammals and birds attracted to the water. The camp is on the opposite side of the river from the other Governors properties, and is reached by boat. This charming journey enhances the romantic and secluded atmosphere of the camp.
The 17 en-suite tents are made up of 12 twins and 5 doubles. Tent 17 is recommended for honeymooners. The tents are furnished in traditional safari style, and lit with gas and kerosene lanterns. Their verandas overlook the waterhole, and the animals that come to drink or graze at its edge.
Breakfast and lunch are served alfresco, in the shade of the trees. Candlelit dinner is served in the dining tent. The camp also has a campfire where guests can meet for sundowners, and share stories of their day.
Activities include 3 daily game drives. Game walks, visits to a local Maasai village and balloon safaris are available for an additional charge. Trips by light aircraft to Mfangano Island in Lake Victoria for fishing, bird watching and boat rides are also on offer, advance booking recommended.
Little Governors‘ Camp has a bronze award from Ecotourism Society of Kenya.
