Lulu first worked at Radio Salaam, (where she filled in as an English news presenter) before she was informed by a KTN cameraman that there was a crisis at KTN, where two of KTN’s Swahili anchors were going for maternity leave, and they needed someone to step in, and so she could try her luck by applying for the position. It was there that Lulu was hired after she went for a screen test and she was hired.

Besides reading the news together, Rashid and Lulu own a film production company and are the brains behind several popular Swahili TV drama series such as Maria, Pete, Maza, Sarafu which air on Maisha Magic.
