Mwanaisha Chidzuga is a former Kenyan News Anchor for K24 Wikendi. She was brought up in Kwale, Coastal Kenya. She previously anchored for KTN, BBC, Pwani FM, and KBC. She is one of the longest-serving, most popular and most talented Kiswahili news anchors in Kenya today. Mwanaisha’s exit from K24 recently left many people wondering what went wrong but she was not the only one who was fired.

Mediamax Network Limited on Wednesday reportedly announced more than 150 staff laid off
Mediamax is the holding company of the People Daily Newspaper, TV stations Kameme and K24, radio stations Emoo FM, Milele FM, Kameme FM, Msenangu (formerly Pilipili FM), Mayian FM and Meru FM, and a host of websites.
The act affected staff across radio, television, digital, newspaper and administrative departments.
The media house had issued a notice on September 30 announcing that it would send some staff home. The lay off was meant to reflect the loss of revenue streams and keep up to the recent economic downturn.
Mwanaisha Chidzuga being one of the many affected took to Instagram to announce it and state that she will now take time time to concentrate on her investments and her hotels, writing that she was only an anchor part-time, only time will tell her new endeavors.

Mwanaisha is the daughter of Zainab Chidzuga. She was brought up in a large family of five girls and three boys. Her family was not so well off, but they lived a comfortable life.

Mwanaisha Chidzuga Career
Mwanaisha Chidzuga has been working at Mediamax Network Limited’s K24 TV, since November 2015, three months after quitting KTN Kenya.
Mwanaisha landed her first job, almost immediately after completing high school, at Pwani FM where she worked as a radio presenter and a DJ. Getting that first job was by chance. She simply explained; “I had accompanied my friend for the interview when I was requested to try it too and I got the job!” .She believes that was one of the best decisions she has ever made.
Later she moved from Pwani FM to Idhaa ya Kiswahili, a Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) station. Although she had no experience in the media industry, she got training in presentation and production from professionals like Khadija Ali, Leonard Mambo Mbotela, Zainab Azizi and Elizabeth Obege. She stated that; “Some of the lessons I learnt at Idhaa were that to be successful in broadcasting, one must strive to be original-do the right thing differently and take criticism positively.”
She left KBC to join KTN where she has been for a very long time.
Other than broadcasting, she has also served as a board member on the Coconut Board Authority-Under the Ministry of Agriculture. Her appointment by the president in 2005, saw her become the youngest Kenyan to have served as a board member in a parastatal, from 2005 to 2012.
She also serves as the C.E.O of Arryannas Swahili Cuisine Restaurants located at Sameer Business Park, Mombasa Road and South C Five Star Rd- Ronalo Apartments Ground floor.

She won an award as the Best News Anchor in 2008, during the Human Rights Awards and Best News Anchor in 2011, at the Coast Media Awards.
