Salgaa Town Guide

Salgaa town is a town in Nakuru County in Kenya. It has an estimated population of about 474 people.

Salgaa Town Geography

Located on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway, about 27 kilometres from Nakuru Town, Salgaa sprouted around 1994 with only two kiosks.
The town derives its name from Kipsigis words Sal, which means praise, and Gaa referring to home. So Salgaa in Kalenjin means praising one’s home.

Economic Activities in Salgaa Town

Salgaa is a 24-hour economy township. The main economic activities in the area are maize in Kenya and wheat in Kenya, livestock Farming in Kenya and flower farming. But it is the activities in the area that have made the demand for housing in the town and its environs to sky-rocket.
In spite of Salgaa’s economic endowment, there is not even a single bank in the town, although residents and visitors are well served by banking agencies like Co-op Kwa Jirani, KCB Mtaani, Equity agents and M-Pesa charges-tariff.

Things that make Salgaa ‘famous’

The famous Salgaa black spot has claimed many lives on the busy road, and this has made Salgaa a household name among Kenyans.
3. Prostitution
