The Makini School Description
The Makini School is a mixed day and boarding school, located in Lavington location, Nairobi County.Makini School started in 1978 when it was initially known as the Riara Gardens Academy founded by the late Dr. Pius Okelo and Dr. Mary Okelo.
The School started as a Nursery School with 8 pupils.Due to parents’ demands by 1980 the school had expanded to a fully-fledged primary school with another plot across the river.
In 1985 the School produced its first Kenya Certificate of Primary Education(KCPE) candidates which comprised seven pupils. The School performed remarkably well for a first attempt and was ranked position 8 in Nairobi.
In 1991 Makini School was the first primary school in Kenya to introduce computers as an educational tool. Indeed this was a stepping stone for the school and today Makini is on the cutting edge of ICT with computers being used in various departments of the School. By 1993 Makini School produced excellent results in KCPE and the school was ranked 1st in Nairobi and 2nd in the country.
In 1996 the school was divided into 3 sections which were the Junior, Middle and Upper sections. In the same year Makini Academy was introduced which was going to offer high school education and it enrolled 27 boys in form 1, the Academy later on moved to Bogani Road in Langata.
Makini Schools has tremendously grown over the years and we have more than 4000 students in our various campuses, we also have 4 different campuses located in Nairobi and Kisumu. The school has well equiped facilities that will provide a serene learning envrinonment for your child.
