William Ruto Biography

William Ruto ( born William Kipchirchir Samoei Arap Ruto) is a Kenyan politician and the Deputy President of Kenya since 2013. Before he became the deputy president, Ruto has also served in various ministerial positions, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology.

He was Secretary-General of KANU, the former ruling political party, and the MP for Eldoret North Constituency between December 1997 and January 2013. From October 5th to 8th 2014, Ruto served as the Acting President of Kenya when President Uhuru Kenyatta was at the Hague.

William Ruto Early Life

William Ruto was born to Daniel Cheruiyot and Sarah Cheruiyot on 21st December 1966 in Sambut town, Kamagut, Uasin Gishu County. He educated at Kerotet Primary School for his primary school level and later joined Wareng Secondary School for his Ordinary Levels education before continuing to Kapsabet Boys High School in Nandi County for his Advanced Levels.

Ruto then studied (Botany and Zoology) from the University of Nairobi and got a BSc until is the point at which he graduated in 1990. Ruto later selected for MSc in Plant Ecology, graduating in 2011. The next year, He selected for Ph.D. and after a few misfortunes, he in the end finished and was granted a Ph.D. from the University of Nairobi graduating on 21 December 2018. During his time on the campus for the undergraduate course, Ruto was an active individual from Christian Union where he served as Chairman.

Political career

Ruto was Organizing Secretary of Youth for Kanu ’92 (YK92), a group that was formed to scrounge up help for President Daniel Arap Moi in the 1992 political decision. In January 2006, Ruto announced freely that he would stand for the presidency in the next general election, scheduled for December 2007. His announcement was censured by a portion of his KANU partners, including the late president Moi.

Ruto looked for the assignment of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) as its presidential applicant, yet in the gathering’s decision on 1 September 2007, he put third with 368 votes, behind the champ, Raila Odinga (with 2,656 votes) and Musalia Mudavadi (with 391). Ruto communicated his help for Odinga after the vote. He left his post as KANU secretary-general on 6 October 2007.
